28 Weeks - Busy times here in the Kareus household. Two weekends ago we had a BBQ with some friends at our place. Got a chance to visit with everyone, play some cornhole and volleyball (and yes I played for those of you wondering, but I didn't bust out any of my special moves, just the basics :-)). But I think the highlight of my evening was seeing Tom hold an infant! And not only did he hold an infant, he feed and burped him too! Gavin (baby in the pics) did even better than Tom! Of course I have pics to document this momentus occasion.
As you can see Tera (Gavin's) mom had to do a little bit of coaching but Tom is a fast learner... he even looks like he's enjoying himself. We'll see if he has the same smile on his face during midnight feeds and diaper changes. :0)
Thanks Marc and Tera for letting your son be Tom's first experience with an infant! Now that Tom has held a 1 month old, we'll see if he can handle a baby who's a couple of days old. Hope Sara and JR are game for letting Tom test drive soon to be new arrival too, since Tom is going to need at the practice he can get before July!
Other happenings at the Kareus household included a significant amount of outside work, including the installation of a ceiling fan on our porch and getting our plants in order for the summer. Although I'm not much of gardener, thankfully Tom knows a thing or two about plants and is a great coach so here some pictures of our work in process.
We also had the oppertunity to see a reinactment of the battel of Sassafras this past weekend in our quaint little town of Vernon. For being a small town we have to say, it was a pretty good show and are happy to report us Yankees won. :-)
And last but not least I won't post without giving an update on the bun in the oven, since I know that is why most of you are checking this blog. Things are progressing right along. My stomach doesn't feel so much like punching bag anymore, but at times looks like a water bed. Still no sickness but I get tired easier than I used too. Weight gain is up to 18 lbs.. but oddly it doesn't feel like that much. And although the weather is getting toasty down here I'm still handling it pretty well...at least according to me, Tom might have a different opinion, but we'll see how I'm doing in a month.
