Welcome to the season of sickness...

I know it has been a long time since our last post but we've been a bit under the weather here at the Kareus household. It all started two weekends ago on Saturday. We had some friends over for dinner. Just before they arrived Tom and I noticed that our stomachs were feeling a bit out of sorts. By 6:00 that evening Tom was in bed with horrible stomach pains. So needless to say he didn't join us for dinner, I did make it through dinner but could tell that something wasn't quite right. Needless to say by 9 o'clock that evening and Tom and I were trading off turns in the bathroom. It was not a pretty sight. We're pretty sure that it was food poisoning.... lets just say we won't be eating Wendy's chicken sandwiches anytime soon!

Then on Thursday of last week Carter came down with a fever on top of a cough he come down with earlier in the week. Friday was my day off and we did manage to get a few errands done like Nixon's vet appointment and a Wal-Mart trip but with a not so well baby that was all we basically got done all weekend. His fever came and gone all weekend so yesterday Tom brought Carter into the doctors to find that he had a double ear infection! I have to say that seeing your child sick is one of the worst things. My heart goes out to parents with children who have medical problems and even though I might not know them my thoughts and prayers are with them. It is just awful to see them suffering and not be able to help them. We're just thankful it was nothing serious and I'm happy to report that he is doing much better.

I do have to give props to my wonderful husband. For those of you who don't know Tom isn't much on this baby stage or a cook. Don't get me wrong he is wonderful with Carter but can't wait till he can run around with him. But on Monday he took Carter to the doctors alone, filled the prescription, gave him medicine, stayed home with him and managed to cook a turkey! Watch out, he is turning into Mr Mom. Love you hun!

Before all of the sicknesses started Carter did have his 6 month check-up and his stats are: weight 17lbs -50th percentile, height 28 1/2 inches - 105th percentile! He is going be just like his daddy tall and thin.

Other news is that Carter is on the verge of sitting up by himself! Sometime he is good for 15 seconds and then of course he reaches really far for something and topples over.... then of course he gets mad because he's on his tummy! He is intrigued by everything! If you have it in your hands he wants it and if you not careful he'll get it!

Other than the brief periods of sickness things have been pretty quiet. I did get a chance to work out on Sunday night which felt great. I haven't had a chance to work out except broomball since I went back to work! We'll see if I can get workouts into my routine regularly.

Feeling better after I got some medicine in me!

How Carter spent most of the weekend... poor thing

Hanging out with daddy when he was feeling under the weather.

Just hanging out!
