So this week we are on vacation in the U.P. and since we have family around I have a few minutes to myself to get our blog somewhat updated. So I am going to try and catch up on the month of June. Tom worked ALOT on the deck! We are happy to report that he is almost done! The picture below was taken before any of the railing was up.
Carter loves to "help" Tom with the deck and although they are both smiling in the picture above, typically only one of them is smiling when Tom is trying to work. Carter unfortunately is so curious and active that it is impossible for Tom to work on the deck when I'm not able to watch our little man. There are very few things that we can find to keep him occupied for more than 2 minutes, but one of them is running water, which unfortunately isn't very good for water bill. So if anyone out there knows of a water toy with a pump to keep water pressure for a decent price, let me know. We are in the market!
In other news Carter has moved from being completely destructive to someone constructive. It so much fun to see him build things, especially when he gets excited and claps for himself!
Although most of June has been lots of work, we did take one weekend off to spend on the lake with some friends. This trip was in place of our yearly houseboat trip. With all of us being so busy it just wasn't in the cards this year. Carter was the only kid there and these are typically adult only weekends, but we didn't have a babysitter so we made it a short weekend and he got to come along.
At first he didn't like the water, but after a few hours. We had a little water bug on our hands and by the end of the trip he didn't hesitate to jump water way over his head, without a life jacket, or anyone around and he cannot swim. So needless to say we had to watch him like a hawk. And I don't want anyone to think that we didn't have a life jacket, because he did and he did wear it when we were moving in the boat, which is actually a rule in Kentucky. But when we put him in the water with the life jacket on he couldn't figure out how to keep his head upright. So we are looking for swim lessons that are age appropriate. I've posted some pictures from our trip below.
