9 Month Check-up

So today was Carter's 9 month check-up. It was an emotional day for me... I'll try to summarize. I got a call from Carter's teachers this morning while at work because they knew that I was picking Carter up in the afternoon for his 9 month appointment. They were calling to let me know they thought it might be necessary for me to talk to our doctor about getting Carter screened for the I-Step Program. Which from what I can gather is a program for children who are having a hard time moving, as in rolling, crawling, walking ect. Even though I know and have discussed Carter's lack of motivation to move with them I didn't expect this! They were not overly concerned but just wanted to let me know they thought I should discuss it with his doctor as they have had other kids in the past need some extra help to get moving. They did let me know all of those kids caught back to their peers in no time.
Well needless to say I spent the rest of the day worrying about our little man. I expressed my new concerns and the daycare's with Dr. Harris, who by the way is wonderful, and she assured me that their is no need to worry at this point. She did evaluate him on his tummy and standing while holding onto a chair and said that is doing fine. He is average in every other aspect, such as eating, hand eye coordination, attention, curiosity ect. And even above average for balance. She said not to worry but to increase his tummy time every day because he does need to roll over or try and get up on all 4's. She is positive that he is strong enough and smart enough to roll over but he just needs to have more opportunity. So... we are to do tummy time for at least a 1/2 at a time at least once a day and if he hasn't rolled over by 10 months to give her a call. She is pretty sure as I was, and now am again that he is just so laid back that he doesn't want to move. Since we have tried all the tricks to get to try to crawling or roll over and he just doesn't care to. If he can't get to his toys, he'll just sit and play contently with nothing. I guess I should enjoy it, but a part of me still worries.... I guess that is just part of being a mom. :-)
So we got good news however this 1/2 hr of tummy time is going to be stressful on me. I thought it was stressful when we were doing 5 minutes a day! I figure were going to need to work up to 1/2 and hr because tonight he screamed for 15 minutes until I finally picked him up and then it took me 10 minutes just to calm him down. This is going to be torture for me. Hopefully he'll figure it out in a few days and then I can just put him on his tummy and he'll turn himself over in a matter of minutes and that will be it for the day! I just need to be patient till then. :-)
Since it was his 9 month check-up here are his stats:
60% Percentile for Height
30% Percentile for Weight

I will try and get to posting some pictures from Carter's 9 month pictures over the weekend.
Happy Friday Everyone!
