Southern US Tour

So I have had the pictures posted for about a week but here is the blog post that goes with it. About two weeks ago we headed to Baton Rough Louisiana for Tom's cousin Chris's wedding.  Since we have never been that far south and we had some vacation days to spare we decided to make it road trip. So I'll let the pictures due most of the talking but on day two of the trip we made it to New Orleans.  I mean you can't go that far south and not stop and see it.  My words to describe it... it smells! And if it smells this much in October I can only imagine what it smells like the humidity of summer. But none the least we can check it off our list of places to do.  What was nice though was the company! We saw Bourbon street with Tom's parents, Aunt Judy, and Aunt Sue (Subaru... since he has two aunt Sue's that is how we distinguish). Obviously prego and toting around a toddler I didn't participate normal Bourbon street activities but we still managed to have a great time.

Eating on the Patio for dinner!
The next day we took the morning to visit the Aquarium in New Orleans.  Carter was a bit of handful but he loved to see all the fish!

After the aquarium we headed to Baton Rough.  We were invited to the rehearsal dinner which was wonderful.  The food and view (top floor of a high rise) were awesome! Carter was more than and a handful at dinner. I can't count the number of times I had to take him out of the room screaming, but we survived.

Saturday morning and after we had to ourselves because the wedding wasn't until 7.  We walked around Baton Rough saw the capital building, water features, and visited a farmers market.  After lunch I took Carter to the pool and after he actually got in, he loved it!
Capital Building
Love this tree which was on the capital grounds.

The pool deck was awesome, views overlooking the Mississippi River.

The wedding took place at dusk on a plantation.  The setting was beautiful as was the bride whom I did not manage to get a picture of.  Although I'm sure Mary did, so you'll have to wait till I get her photos to post some.
My boys all dressed up!

The reception started immediately after the wedding which was actually nice, since there was no downtime to kill.  Tom said the Pork was awesome. I didn't have any but everything I ate was great.

When the music started, Carter busted a move! It was adorable.  I didn't know how he would be since he wouldn't dance at Matt and Jac's wedding earlier in the summer, but he wasn't shy here.  It probably helped that there was a live band who interacted with Carter at the beginning to get him going.

Sisters!
Sunday morning we headed to the Zoo in Baton Rough.  it happened to be Boo Zoo, which I know most of you are familiar with.  Although Carter didn't have his costume as I wasn't planning for this, he still got candy. And it only took one stop before he realized that he would get candy at every booth we passed! I don't want to think about how much he had!

Someone must have given this monkey candy because he was begging for whatever we had in our buckets! :-)
After the zoo we drove up to Memphis.  It was late when we got in so Monday morning we did our site seeing. We didn't go to Graceland. but we walked around down town and took a trolley ride.  Carter loved the Trolley and of course through a temper tantrum when we got off.  This made lunch pretty unpleasant because he can pout with the best of them.  But I can't blame him, 5 days  of vacation off of his schedule and were bound some moments.

He naped from Memphis to Nashville which was awesome.  We new he was going to want to run off some energy so we took him to a Bouncer Town which turned out to be an awesome idea.  He was excellent and had a blast.

After our Nashville stop we headed for home.  Tuesday was our day of recovery and to get Carter back on his schedule.  That concludes our Southern Tour!
